Traveling north up to Branson, Mo. last night......
We get to the stoplight were we turn off the big big road and a couple of cars ahead of us is a shiny new cummins with a bunch of stickers on the back glass and a 5" chrome tip sticking out. Light turns greed and the D*dge starts blowing smoke and howling through the gears......
Wife turns to me and asks "what's wrong with that dodge?" I say "nothing, hell mine smokes more than that ".
She says "no....it sounded like crap."
Me. "that's just a straight six diesel with a straight pipe exhaust....they all sound exactly like that"
Her. "Yuck, sounds like a ricer with a fart tube....thank God you drive a Ford"
Thats great scott, I love a woman that knows the sound of a good truck, mine does the same thing our neighbor has a cumapart and she asked me the same thing, "whats wrong with that truck?" simple response, it's a dodge.
I'll agree with ya....them Cummins Turbo's at one time sounded impressive to me...when I still had a gasser, BUT after I heard that wonderful 7.3 at idle and buying one, that Cummins sounds like a bucket of bolts about ready to come out of the tail pipe! Them Dodge owners can't afford to be first class as they appear to me to be "Ford Super Duty wanta be's" LOL
They sound a lot different than ours, that's for sure.. My truck is mostly just loud turbo whistle out of the exhaust, but had a throaty tone and WOT. The cummins trucks run good when turned up though, that's for sure!
Heee haw ha....ha very funny. I used to own a dodge cumapart for a year and a half. It was a dually and I did not really like it. They had lots of issues with the tranny's and the doors were starting to rust thru. ( it was a 2000) Just glad I never had major problems with it, got rid of it with out too much of a loss.
