I don't see why Ford could not have 2 diesel engine options for the new Superduty.
They could have the 6.4 V8 diesel option for those who really need it.
And they could have the 4.5 liter V6 as an option as well. From what has been posted on these forums, the 4.5 liter V6 baby powerstroke is found in the LCF trucks and has 200 hp and 400 + ft/lbs of torque.
The current 5.4 liter V8 gas option base engine for the superduties has only 365 ft/lbs.
If the 6.4 V8 will be a 7-8k option, that's quite a steep option price. The 4.5 liter could be more affordable and do at least some of the jobs that people require.
I was told that they will raise the diesel engine option to almost 8000 dollars, rediculous. We just ordered a 550 and thank god we got it when we did. Special orders may not get completed for the 07s i was told. The dealer told me he ordered as many 07s as he could.
Dealer told me today that the new diesel could be an additional 3-3.5K higher than the current 6.0...yikes....that would be a 8K option....
I'm sure a dealer would never say that to get a few additional sales on '07 models, would he? I wouldn't expect a price increase of more than $500. The market just won't support it.
I agree with Powerdude, please, please send us a 4.5 or better yet a 4.8 V-6 based on the new 6.4 liter. (I want the new injection system.)
Also saw a note in the current 'Trailer Life' mag that Dodge will add $800 to cover the cost of a particulate filter and nitrous oxide absorber for 2007. I would expect to see GM and Ford price increases in line with that of Dodge.

I think they should allow the choice between the 4.4L V8 diesel Ford is engineering/ making in Europe, the 6.4L, the 6.8 V-10, and a 8.16L V-12 w/ cylinder deactivation.
