My buddy pulled up to work today in a 65 f-100. He said it was a 390 so I had him pop the hood. He also said that the motor is original but there is nothing on the front of the block where the 352 normally is. Is this right. No doubt it is an FE and not a 292 or 312.

Rat, some FEs have a 352 on the front, some the 501-105 and some say 427. Lots and lots of them don't say anything. So yes, it could well be what he says. DF

Dittos Jim, the only V8 offered in 65 was a 352.
