I am putting a 5.0 in place of 302 with C4 (76 Bronco).
Will need flexplate with 164 teeth, 50 oz balance, and 10 1/2" bolt diameter.
Does any one know if any of original flexplates were made like this so I can pick one up at wrecking yard or will I have to have old one rebalanced from 28 to 50 oz?
Thanks. Parts houses and wrecking yards have been no help.
All the AOD's I've seen use a 164 tooth flexplate. If a 164 tooth doesn't fit the converter, then you need a 157 tooth-50/oz flexplate. Summit sells the B&M unit for about $50-100.
Appreciate your help.
I am original owner of this '76 Bronco. It came from the factory with 164 tooth, 28 0z flexplate (large bell housing) with a 10 1/2" bolt diameter converter. I think I will have to have mine rebalanced to 50 oz or buy an 11 1/2" diameter converter.
