Here's the story of diesel in Colorado. It's come down only 5 cents compared with gas which is down 20-30 cents in the last two weeks. Might explain the general trend we're seeing everywhere.
I paid 2.79$ this morning at Tripple T truck stop. Most places around town here are 2.99$. My wife gets the reg unl. for 2.55$ at the local Costco. Wish they carried Diesel. If i want to save the .20cents a gal. its 40 miles round trip .
Up in Cache Valley, UT...diesel is $3.55 at a number of places. We're getting screwed...that's for sure. We don't get oil from the mid-east, gulf coast, or Alaska, but we still see our prices rise even though nothing was happening in Wyoming or Canada.
Heres one for you! Our local prices range from $2.88 to $3.15 but get this I called my fuel supplier and they would sell #2 diesel with B5 bio added with all taxes delivered for $2.68 . Someone is making a killing on fuel here in Michigan.
I filled up yesterday after doing the harpoon mod and diesel was $2.69 a gallon. I think it was the first time in a while I filled up for less than $85.
You got to use less fuel if you want the price to come down. I've cut my Diesel useage by 50% this year as compaired to last!! Driving less and 20% SVO helps!!
I'm still looking for even a remotely reasonable explanation as to why diesel remains so much higher that unleaded. Here in western GA, regular is 2.44 and diesel at the same station is 2.89. $0.45 difference is rediculous especially considering the drop in gasoline prices. To argue the ULSD conversion, I bought my first tank of the stuff 10 days ago and it was the cheapest diesel around....2.85. Something is amiss here
Gas is down to about $2.45 give or take a few cents. However diesel is ranging from $2.75 to $2.95 depending on the area and the stations who have not yet droped the price. I know it wasn't long ago fuel was under $2 a gallon but $2.45 for gas and $2.75 for diesel is a much needed break on the wallet. I guess thats how it works to raise the price and everyone starts yelling and a few weeks later they drop it $.50 and everyones relieved to see it come down. We start to get used to seeing $3.00 a gallon or more and then it drops down to $2.50 and it sounds like a deal but in reality its still alot higher from where it started. I guess the only thing to do is just get it while its cheaper and conserve it as long as we can.

We could all give up our diesel trucks and cars and the price of diesel would not go down. Light trucks and cars that are diesel powered account for only 3% of the vehicles in the USA.

Now that is scarey if you are running straight veggie oil (SVO) a 6.0L.

Home heating oil is trading higher than RUG and RBOB on the NYMEX. HHO determines the price of diesel (HHO + a premium). It is a globabl market, if they can sell it to foreign countries for $2.00 (spot price) why sell it to us in the USA for cheaper? We are a capitalistic society.
It sucks, no doubt about it, but either the price of oil needs to drop to $40 a barrel, or the oil companies need to give the USA a break in price. Neither of those will happen anytime soon. I think the best option is mandating 20% biodiesel, that will directly reduce the amount of dino diesel we use.
Anyway, $2.76 here in SW Michigan.

I think main reason gas prices are going down is to help stimulate the economy, we're down to $2.21 gallon u/l from $2.79 just over 2 weeks ago, but our diesel has only come down 10-15 cents to $2.75-$2.79 here in Victoria, TX. My feeling is gas will go back up to an avg. of $2.50 once consumer spending increases in other areas. I don't think diesel will ever be same price as gas, I just came off the road from my 18 wheeler job, and too much need for diesel out there, the trucking companies don't feel the pinch of high diesel prices because it is passed on as a fuel surcharge as was mentioned by others. We can conserve all we want on our diesel spending, but oil companies know the demand will always be out there. P.S. Thanks to all the tech's and other owner's that answer the questions out there. I'm new to this site, and have already learned alot. '03 F-250 w/112,000 miles, and happy w/truck performance!
Actually last August when I bought my 06 PSD diesel was higher then Katrina hit and gas went through the roof and diesel was not affected as much. Gas went up to $3.19 a gal and diesel stayed at $2.69 for a few weeks. That made me happy but it didn't last. Now with diesel considerably higher again we'll have to grin and bear it. One thing about diesel its stable unlike gas which can change $.30 in a few days.
How much of OUR diesel is going over seas for our military? Seems to me it should come from over there but who knows for sure..
Shell closed a refinery near Bakersfield Ca. last year that refined crude to diesel. It made 6% of the fuel used in Ca. We've never recovered from that as the price went up and has not come down..Paid $3.19 last fill up and many stations around me are at $3.49...Driving my Civic to work...Good Luck
the last time I was in Iraq, we got most of our fuel (JP8, not diesel) from Kuwait. Don't know all the ins and outs, but I believe it was refined there, nothing shipped from the US. We were still paying for it.
