Hello. Fixing up "Old Red"
When I got my first real job, I worked with a fellow that I called my mentor. He taught me a lot. During my time with him, he sold to me his 1976 Ford F100. It was pretty much a farm truck. 300 inline six and a four on the floor (from a 79 Ford). From the moment I saw it, it's nickname was "Old Red".
I drove this truck for many years. I dated my wife in this truck and really enjoyed it. As the years passed, I drove it less and a friend needed a truck for building a new house. So, I sold it to him. I told him "whatever you do, don't sell this truck".
Well, here it is 2006. In a crazy turn of events, my friend emails me out of the blue and says "wanna buy Old Red back?" Glad he did not take my advise in this case, I did not hesitate one second, I said yes.
So, after many years of use, the truck has really seen better days. The bed shakes a bit at speed, there is a hole in the floorboard, and other issues. However, I feel like I am welcoming back an old friend so all that matters little.
I will be using "old red" to do some chores this fall, but I am looking forward to fixing it up a bit. I hope that I can visit this site to get some advise and explore it for info.
Thanks for reading and see you around.
JON.
