try another dealer but you should have realized you cannot change to much.

The problem with that is...he changes the operating parameters. This does not give the tech a fair shot at diagnosing the problem. Then the tech sucks and "I'm never gonna buy a Ford again" syndrome kicks in. Then I have to delete the thread because someone says...Sue 'em..

Gees, now I'm getting mad

KW5413- I would think that by re-installing the CAT and removing the programmer, that the tech or any tech would be able to properly diagnose the problem. I realize that there have been modifications to the vehicle, but nothing dramatic by any means; when you look at what can and is done to these vehicles on a daily basis. Yea, you run a risk by making any change to a vehicle and that is a decision each person has to make (to modify or not) but minor enhances that actually help the truck run more efficiently in many instances (in my opion) should not be a reason for warranty work to be denied (but this is my opion and in many cases not the opinon of dealerships and others).

I took the programmer out before i brought it in. And i realise that all this could void the warranty but didnt think theyd be that strict.

Why not? I've got 10K on mine. Check my sig for mods to date and note that in three weeks it gets Head Studs, Stage II Injectors, a Return Regulated Fuel System and the EGR completely removed.

Somebody needs to correct Fords mistakes.

Don't misunderstand me here hschiro. I am not against mods. To each his own. I just feel that removing mods that may have an impact on the diagnosis is tantamount to peeing up a rope against the wind.

While this may not be Fuxton1's intent...we have seen it here many times...a modder removes his enhancements then complains very loudly about the dumb tech and sorry Ford customer service.

As a side note: Do you feel that a "bully dog triple dog power pup" would have no potential impact on a smoke issue?

some issues are caused by the aftermarket equipment. give the guy a fair shot or you shoud let him know when you fuss about the bad service.

by the way, if the aftermarket was so good all the time, dont you think the manufacturers would support them.

So no more drive train warranty right??

I think about modding my truck all the time, it sounds like fun. But I don't want the receptionist at the dealership telling me to buzz off because I turned it into a dragster.

I just think it odd to do these mods and then hit up the dealer for warranty when it smokes. Truck is new and barely broken in. Personally I would have a hard time trusting the mod companies with my warranty. Do folks who install these mods warranty any problems that might arise??

I don't expecct my dealer to warranty it. I don't trust the mod companies with a warranty either.

I installed them with a buddy in his shop. And no, I wouldn't expect him to warranty them either. Unless he didn't torque something down correctly, but that's why I help out. We double check each other.

Eveyone is making great points here. I totally agree with the two techs here, that at least give them a fair shot at helping you by letting them know what your vehicle has had done to it so they can at least take it all into consideration. I just feel that there are some legitimate problems with certain aspects of the 6.0 PSD that if fail, should be replaced by newer updated materials. Good luck with getting your ride riding right...

the only times parts are updated is if the part needs it. in the course of the 6.0 the icp, ebp, egr, cac boots, turbo, etc have been changed in some way. and over time the truck has gotten better.
