I have a 93 F-150 5.0 V8 302. I have a problem with it cutting off on me when i stop suddenly or if I'm trying to turn around somewhere tight, like having to back up and drive forward. The engine temp has no effect on it. It does it on hills or flat ground. I've changed out the plugs and wires. The filter has been changed I've also checked the air system for any obstructions. It just got an oil change recently. The cutoffs are starting to become more frequent. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
For about $8, you can get a new plenum and throttle body gasket set. Check my gallery for some good pics about what happens to older 5.0's with the high rise plenum. If it's primarily when you're dropping the throttle, sounds to me like it's grabbing excess air from somewhere. It takes about 1 hour to remove the plenum and TB. If you want, this is also a good time to replaced the TPS.
If you think this problem is bad with the auto tranny, try it with the M5OD. It'll make the truck buck, snort, sneeze and try to do reverse wheelies. Mine would buck so bad starting off in 1st, sometimes it would actually chirp the tires when it cut out.
Thanks for the help. I had a feeling it was the throttle body. A buddy of mine had a bronco with the same engine type and he had the same problem as me. Also the pictures are an awesome help. Thanks Old-Paint.
P.S.-What did you use to clean the ports and IAC?
