i lost my second piston in my 292, and im ready to try something different in my 64 f100 4x4. moving away from the rare y-blocks
i belive the trans is a t-98
what can i make work if i get the right bell housing?
obviously the 223 (if the side mounts will bolt in right)
international used this tranny too i think, but ih stuff is even harder to find.
did the 240/300 ever use the t-98?
352 ive heard did, but i was down that road last time and it didnt look like it would work... maybe i was wrong
i think im trying to ask the popular question of what my easyist swap will be.
if i can find a good 223 i might go with that.
if i gotta go wit a 292 again i will, it was an ok motor over all, but ive blown two of them now so im just interested in tryin a different motor
any advice please
-Sam
Any motor that will take the early small tranny bolt pattern should work. Y-block, FE, 223, even 289 but you'd have to get a 63/64 5 bolt bell housing. Engine mounts would be up to you but they are readily available for most engines in your frame.
i was just thinking about pullin whats left of the piston and connecting rod, and leaving it out, runnin with 7 cyls. how bout that? this truck is nothin more than a total beeter mining truck and i kinda refuse to spend too much money on it. i mean its one of the uglyiest trucks around.
where will i find my donor bellhousing for a simple swap, i read somewhere that ford did make a b-housin
for the 390 that had the 2 engine mounts on it.
