alternator questions
hey guys im getting ready to put a nice sound system in my truck and im concerned about the 60 amp alternator keeping up. Does anyway know the options that where avaible on these trucks? The motor is a 351 windsor. I believe there was a 70 amp option and i know in the 70s they offered a heavy duty 100 amp option not sure if they did in 80 to 86 though?

My 83 had a 4.9 6cyld in it, after installing a large stereo I wanted more amps. I went to the local auto parts store and the very helpful person behind the counter looked up various applications non specific to the year, or model, and found a direct bolt in 100 amp alt. Rebuilt with lifetime warranty, $50, kind of funny though, I went through 2 within a year or so, but the third one has lasted about 6 years.
Down the road, I put in a V8 302, and only had to change the shim on the pulley, which another helpful person at a parts store gave me.
