Question Carburetor question.

I just got a 1978 F-150 Custom with the l6 300 in it and it needs a new carb so I figure I should get a performance type deal. People suggested the Holley 390 CFM 4-Barrel (0-8007) in that performance thread that's stuck up at top, what confuses me is whether you need to change anything else to make that work. Also my truck has a manual choke and something said that carb is electric choke, does that mean it won't work?

I don't know much about carburetors and I'm only semi-competent when it comes to working on cars at all so when you answer try not to confuse me to much. Thanks.

Not sure what thread you were looking at but I went thru the Holley carb up-date this year. To add the holley 4bbl you need a different intake manifold, and that leads to a different exhaust manifold, and that leads to different exhaust system. That is just for starters. You still need new air filter and throttle. You still reading this? The choke question is the e-zest fix of this set up. The e-z'est thing for you to do would to buy a new OEM carb. KISS=Keep It Stock Stupid or Keep It Simple Stupid.
