Problems need some help

I have an 04 CrewCab 6.0 8' Bed Dually, with automatic transmission. Just recently it has been having no power past 2500 rpms, and if the turbo kicks in it blows a ton of black smoke out the exhaust. I normally use the truck to pull a 24' trailer full of air compressors (not that much weight really). I have also had a problem with losing front tires, about every 10k miles I lose my front tires, but the dealership wouldn't do anything under warranty because I dont rotate tires.... (as its a dually I just kinda of stared at him dumbfounded and procceeded to complain, that didn;t get anywhere). I have also had a problem where in the winter it will just dump all its coolant on the ground, leaving me without a heater at the worst times. Once again I took it to a dealer, (actually 3 different ones) and all said I was crazy. I just need some help for when I take it in today I can sorta act smart and point them in the right direction. And any idea how long the dealer should have it? Its a work truck and I need to make some trips with it soon.

At first blush I would say you have an EGR valve stuck open but, we have some good techs here and they will surely be along later in the day with comments.

How many miles on this truck?

Any performance mods?

Fuel additives?

All recalls complete?

Previous EGR valve issues / replacement?

63k miles, no fuel additives recently, in the winter I used just regular diesle conditioner. No performance mods. I haven't gotten any letters for recalls, but I assume they would have done them during the many times its been to the ford garage. And thanks, what does "egr" stand for?

Good possibility for egr cooler problem. Have them at operating temp, pressurize the cooling system, remove egr valve, jack up the rear of the truck (really high) watch to see if coolant is in the intake from the egr cooler side inside the hole where the egr valve used to be. Might also explain the egr issues.

I took it to the dealer today, they know what is wrong they think, but its going to take two to three weeks he said, because there is 6 other trucks just waiting to get looked at, all the other dealers are backed up in my area too. This really stinks because I had meeting set up I have to goto out of state to show my product, now I have to figure out how to haul stuff for the next two weeks. Ford needs to set up a program where they lend you a truck while you are down and out, even if they charge a small rental fee, at least I would have somethig.

Is your truck shifting properly? I know of some trucks that had a similar problem with no power at top end, and it was actally the clutch disengaging for some reason. Maybe put the truck on the computer and run a diognostic and see if anything comes up.
