I have a 1961 F500 with a blown 292.I just got a 360 with tranny. My question is, can I drop the 360 in and use my existing tranny and mounts? If not what do I need to switch? Thanks Direwolf

If both are the same it will probobly work assuming your talking about the tranny mounts being on the bellhousing. You'll have to make or buy engine mounts or an engine crossmember for the 360 into a 61. Let me know if we're barkin up the right tree. The 360 won't bolt up to the 292 bellhousing, but if the 360 bellhousing has mounts on it they might fit the 61 crossmember.

 

The 292 engine has a front mount vise the side mount on the 360. You will end up buying an adapter mount for the engine or fabricate your own. Look in LMC or Dennis Carpenter for the mount kits.
