Smile 3.5" down pipe and other mods

Hi all,
Since I've turned in my company car I'm back to driving my PSD every day.
I've searched all over this site and other concerning mods for additional HP (nothing wild) and MPG. But still can't find all the answers.

Here is what I'm thinking:
* DP -Tuner: up to 80 econo tune.
* replace stock muffler (Walker BTM #21470)
* replace air intake: AIS
* addition of gauges, EGT, Boost and Tranny temp
I've got the ok (from my wife who is the CFO) to do the mods now. Just need to figure out which ones and where to buy.

Would a 4" exhaust system and 4" downpipe add anything other than a reduction to my bank account? Or should I just replace the stock muffler and 3.5" down pipe with aftermarket 3.5" down pipe. I've heard the stock down pipe is pretty bent up.

I never tow anything over 5,000 lbs most of the time she's empty. I do have a fiberglass topper on the bed though.

My truck:
2001 F250 PSD, full size 4 door, 4X4, long bed, auto with 12K miles on rebuild, motor is 100% stock, 102K miles,

THANKS!

You should ask this in the forum for your truck, all tho you'll
get help here too.

You're on the right track. Let it breathe and monitor the vitals
ie. open exhaust & intake, add gages, then you're ready for other mods.

Talking

Snag, if you're talking about your 97 and changing the muffler, I wouldn't if its still in good shape. You'll be wasting your money thinking you can find something aftermarket that flows better. My 97 has 272,000 miles on her and pull's like a team of mules after some of the mod's I've done. If you haven't already, definitely clean out the inside of your cat converter. It helps alot.

snagnever,

If it's a OBS Stroke the chip and such are going to be really hampered by the stock down pipe. Get it changed ot a 3.0 incher with a cat test pipe and it'll flow fine. Even better is an MBRP full system as they down pipe expands to 4.0 inches at 21-22 inches from the turbo for max flow.

We stock the down pipes in aluminized ans stainless as well as the test pipes or the MBRP system if you decide on that. If you have questions just call.
