Unhappy Starting and stalling

Hi all,
I just joined this web site, I have a 99 EB expedition with the 5.4, I have been reading many of your post and it looks like you have a great wealth of knowledge here, already I have found many interesting topics with solutions. Great material!!
The problem I am having with my expedition is that on occation when I start the truck it stall after running a second or so. The only way to keep it running is to keep my foot on the gas a bit and drive it that way using the brake until it warms up a bit then it is fine and this problem may not re-occur for a month. I have read posts that may have some relation, IAC valves, Mass Flow sensor?
I have replaced the fuel filter, PCV valve and 7 of 8 plugs 2 of which we very loose. (did not even need a rachet to remove). Truck now runs great must have been loosing compression fron the loos plugs, even the coil boots were burned, I though That may have been the issue but now about 1 month later it has happened again.
Thanks in advance for your help

Had the same exact problem with my '00. Took care of it by replacing the IAC valve. Never had the problem again.

Problems with vacuum lines may also cause this issue. My bro ran in the same stalling problem and found out that the fuel pump needs to be replaced

IAC Valve

Thanks for the feedback, I think I will start with the IAC valve, I just dont know what it looks like, or where it is, I would like to try cleaning it before I replace it, If I get any improvement then I will replace it. What should I use to clean it? Is Gumout too harsh or should I just use alcohal?
Thanks

This is the IAC on the 5.4L:

Great instructions on how to change it out here:

If you're going to clean it, use carb cleaner.

Do a search on IAC or Idle Air Control Valve. There are many threads, some with pictures. Cleaning seems to work, for awhile but not forever. Replacement may be the best solution.

Appears Mr. Novice types faster than I or his system access isn't as slow as mine is. Good post.
