Speedometer problems
I have searched the boards but can't find what i'm looking for. My speedometer has completely stopped working in my 99 f150 4X4 4.6 5speed and i don't know where to start looking for the problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

i had the same problem, but my speed sensor was located on the tailshaft of my transfer case for a 4x4...but on the speed sensor, if yours isnt fixed with the other suggestions, u take it out of the tailshaft, look at the plastic gear (if its anything like mine) and check to see if it is stripped, flattened, etc...if it is, u might as well go to Ford and order one of those (make sure u know number of teeth the gear has), and there was also a gear inside the tailshaft that was damaged in mine (if its like mine, u have to detach the tailshaft from the transfer case and theres a little ball thats on the top of the shaft, i think it should just pop out...then u can slide the circular gear off of the shaft) u have to take the driveshaft off to get to it of course lol...had to replace one of those...so if there so happens to be a plastic gear on the end of the sensor and u have to order another gear, get the different gear from Ford as well
