My 99 F250 SD, CC, 7.3, has 115,000 miles. This morning on my way home from work as I was going down the freeway my ignition cut out on me about 4 times. First time at about 70 mph the ignition just cut of and then when I put it in neutral and it slowed to about 50 mph it came back on. The next couple of times I pulled off the freeway and stopped. Then put it in neutral, then turned the ignition off and then on it started. I was able to make it home without any further stalls.
What could this be? Cam positioning sensor?
Have you ever replaced the CPS? That's a real good bet because that is exactly what they do. I was lucky enough to have mine go on a rural road at about 35 mph. Nursed it home without a clue what was wrong until I did a search right here at FTE.

There ya go, the CPS will not throw a code. Plus in spite of what more members than I like to imagine the glow plugs have zero to do with the operation of their motors beyond being an aid to starting in cold weather. When I nursed mine home I could get about 500 yards at a time, wait 5 minutes and do another few hundred yards. To make the story even worse I just knew it had to be the fuel filter (lol) and walked to a parts store and paid nearly 40 bucks for no reason at all.
About the cheapest is ebay. Do a search for it. The item is physically located on the front of the engine , passenger side, just above the harmonic balancer. Do a search here for particulars on it. Tons of info.
I've seen the CPS do alot of stange things but I have never seen it set a Glow Plug code. Could a short in the GPR wiring or UVC's be causing this cutout??
Sorry so late getting back to the post. Got the new CPS and it is back on the road.
Thanks for all the help.
Now I just need to get my fuel mileage back up. Right now I am getting 15.3 city and highway running just under 2000 RPM.
