Dually conversion.
First I have a 1970 F250 camper special and want to do a dually conversion on it. I also have access to a 1987 e350 cube van and want to use the rearend out of it. I'm assumming that I will have to weld new spring perches and shock mounts to it, is a cube van rearend wider than a p/u dually rearend? What about drive shaft length and u-joints? Can I just use my exixting drive shaft?
Is there any way to use the front suspension or part of the frontend? Can I swap the rotors and calipers onto my truck? My truck already has disc brakes. Should I just keep my front end and get spacers to mount the front dually wheels?
The van will be either a D70 or Sterling rear end, and it will take quite a bit of work to make it fit. I think the width should be close, but the perches will have to be moved, and the driveshaft will have to be shortened. You will have to come up with something for rear fenders, sicne there aren't any fiberglass ones available for these trucks.
The front hubs won't fit on your spindles, but you can put on complete I-beams from a 73-79 F350 dually to get the whole upgrade.
For my 2, I'd just pick up another truck.
