I belive the FE blocks where the choice for gassers in that year. Most likey its a FE 352 Heavy service engine. These engines are very strong and durable, i had a FE 360 in my last truck and i couldnt destroy it, it had very good oil pressure at all times too. Good engines....but not good on gas.
Very good chance it's a 361, if your luckier its a 391 these are Ford truck Gas engines of about that era, is it a 4-barrel carb ? Could be a 330 which was rather a dog I heard.
We had a 71 Ford Cabover 750,,with the 391,,,,that truck would run,,,,5-speed tranny 2-speed rear,,,,as I recall the 750 trucks came with 391 engines but who knows what engine you really have ??
Later on we had a 77' ( I think) LN 800, with a 361, 4-barrel,,did not run as good as that 391.
