It is confirmed at one time that 76 was the first year of the shoulder harness. then user 85 F-150-4x4 (or close to that) stated that 74 was the first year of the shoulder belt as an Option only.
Still trying to find a dealer brochure to verify that.
I don't know when it was a factory option, or standard. But, I had a '73 that my parents insisted on having dealer installed shoulder belts. They were just like '68 cars, that had a seperate belt for the shoulders, that were non-retractable.
My 76 Half ton had shoulder belts. Seems they were unique in how they retracted though. [ something about it being the only year they did it that way.]
