shoulder belts????

shoulder belts????

just wondering if a 1974 f250 would have shoulder style seat belts?????

I think it was an option. They only became standard in the late 70s.

No , at least my 74 highboy only had lap belts. It's got them now though. I put a 78 one ton cab on and got rid of the gas tank in the cab.

i still have the gas tank in there. just seemed odd to have shoulder belts in there. what year did they start with using shoulder belts???????

It is confirmed at one time that 76 was the first year of the shoulder harness. then user 85 F-150-4x4 (or close to that) stated that 74 was the first year of the shoulder belt as an Option only.

Still trying to find a dealer brochure to verify that.

1977 they were standard equipment the cab is different than the ealier cabs where they
bolt in

I don't know when it was a factory option, or standard. But, I had a '73 that my parents insisted on having dealer installed shoulder belts. They were just like '68 cars, that had a seperate belt for the shoulders, that were non-retractable.

My 76 Half ton had shoulder belts. Seems they were unique in how they retracted though. [ something about it being the only year they did it that way.]
