Deron, You can get a Pertronix unit to install in the dist. You also need to get the voltage checked coming to the dist. That may be the cause of your points eating.

In the cool still quiet of night, you can hear chevies rusting away.
Look in the online store here or type in pertronics on a web search engine. You should be able to pull it up. Most everyone here has changed over to Pertronics or Crane point replacement systems. I run the Crane myself. Both run roughly the same price wise. I don't know exactly how the Pertronics works but I do know how the Crane system works. Basically they get rid of the cam inside the distributor housing. Mine uses an infared beam that is shot through a slotted rotor to trigger the coil to fire. Different rotors for different applications. Just depends on what system you like the most.
J.C. Whitney sells them. They work great. You'd better check your voltage regulator! Autozone has a soild state heavy duty lifetime one for $11.95 or a no warenty one for 10.95! Check the voltage at the coil you should only have ~8 volts if its more after you replace the reg get a universal balist resitor.
