with a body lift do i have to brace the bed at all? i remember having to do something to reinforce the bed. will the weight i can carry in the bed go down? worry about collapsing the bed? any worries at all? i'm thinking about doing a 2 in performance accesories lift.
ok first what you need to do is state what kinda truck you have that will help. i put in a 3" body lift on a 75 ford and i have no worries. you will get a gap between the rear bumper and the front bumper will not fit unless you make bumper brackets. it will help knowing what truck!!!
sorry. on the other forums i'm on i have a sig that has all my info. it's an 89 f150 reg cab long bed 4x4, it has custom bumpers so the bumpers will fit.
i see it now. thanks. but ya if you have custom bumpers it will work the lift might come with bumper brackets if it is that age maybe . you will have to check into that
i dont know about your inner fenders, but on some trucks you have to get rid of them and replace them with something else, but some are good to go. You would deffinately hack the outer fenders, for you application maybe only 1 or 2"
Or perhaps a better easier idea for you would be to just get some coil springs for the front that are 2" taller than stock... that would cost around what a body lift would.
A lift block, add-a-leaf, or a shackle flip would take care of the back, and could be had for free to a little more than free. Either way, it's better than the headaches of a body lift, and 100 times easier to install.
The front I proabably wouldnt do without a kit with drop brackets for the TTB though. Cuttouts are easier
i can't find a 1 inch kit ANYWHERE. everyone has 2 inch kits. i still don't see what your saying to trim. i got the outter fenders. the sheet metal around the wheel well. but what about the inner fenders? the body lift from performance acc. comes with some square tubing to brace the bed.
not sure on a write-up on it, I'll be doing mine this weekend. I'm lowering my spring towers 2-2.5 inches, removing the rear add a leafs and doing a shackle flip, I figure this should level it out pretty good. I plan on getting lotsa pictures, and writing the whole thing up next week.
