The Dana 50 is a Twin Traction Beam axle. Dana's website has all the ID info you could EVER need!

Don't F250 SD's have straight axle 50's under the front of them also?

The only reference to a Dana 50 on Dana's website (http://www2.dana.com/expertforms/demenu.aspx) is for IFS. I believe a straight axle Dana on an F-250 is a 60.

I had someone look at my F350 and they said the front axle was a Dana 50 not 60, so I'm pretty sure they make them straight.

Ooops, looks like I was wrong. Looks like Ford used a straight Dana 50 from 98 1/2 to 2002 in F250's and F350's. They used one in Excursions, too, but I don't know if it was IFS or straight. I would guess a straight axle, based on model year.

sorry about the misinfo.myaddled old brain doesn't think in new truck patterns.the company i work for has a whole fleet of new fords with the jeep axles and coil springs.why they put 8 lugs on a jeep axle i'll never know.i think they already have seen the error in their ways, due to the fact that that half the trucks already have had the front diff and driveshaft replaced.deep mud doesn't seem to agree with these light rears.
