Much to my dislike I went out to check the oil in my 1996 f350 ps and it's two quarts low and it is never low so I looked under and there was oil on my front diff so i looked up and it looks like its coming from the seal behind the balancer where the crank is. There is no oil on the ground so I think it mostly leak's while driving. It leaked out two quart's in about 500 miles. I can't have my truck leaking so i'm going to fix it myself. I alway's say no to the stealership. Has anyone had this problem ever and or does anyone think that its just a seal? I know it's going to be kind of a pain and probably a day's work with all the removing of part's.
yeah not bad at all. there is one on the front of each head along with the rears. its the bigger of the two. the little one is the fuel rail. they will be a little hard to see on the front due to everything that is mounted but start checking to see where its actually coming from. are you sure its oil.
yeah it's oil. So it's the bigger of the two plug's got it. I'll start digging around up there tomarrow until then i have an 80 mile drive to get home here in about half an hour and hopefully it doesn't get any worse. it's got to be something cheap to fix. I hope. I will keep posted when i find out thank's for the plug info. Does that plug just screw in?
I got my ps fixed today after about 8 hours of removing and intalling but not to bad. I checked all over as suggested and only found only that seal leaking. That advise did help especialy if it was not the seal thank you. Now i am leak free and can get back to powerstrokin down the road.
