Well I Love My 06 6.o I Think That If You Wait For The 6.4 It Would Be Smart To Buy An 09 Or So To Let Them Work The Bugs Out Of The New Motor, And See How It Runs With All Of The New Epa Restrictions, And I Must Say My 06 Is The Best Truck That I Have Ever Owned
i have an 06' f250 psd 6.0, x-cab, longbed auto-trans 4x4. this is my first diesel and i just went over 6400 miles on it.. i have had no problems and i love the truck... i would have to say that now is the time to get an 6.0... i think they've got most of the bugs worked out and the 6.4 will probibly be like the early 6.0's... "nothing but problems".... in the end its your call, your money, and you that has to live with what ever you do... but if your asking me i would say... go for the 6.0............
I have an '06 F-250 4X4, CC, long box. This is the 3rd PSD that I have owned, ('95, '96, '06, combined miles for the 3 is close to 400,000 miles). My '06 is by far the best of the 3 trucks. I have complete fuel records for all 3. My MPG while empty may have been slightly better for the early models but I think this may be due in part to the difference in the lower sulfur fuel that we now use. MPG towing is about the same. As I said, I'm very pleased.
I have an 06. No issues at all and I love the truck. I also benefited by knowing 2 guys with 03's. One has over 120k with one egr replacement and nothing else. The other works next door and just turned 50k with no issues whatsoever. What all 3 trucks have in common is none of the three were modded in any way. If that tells you anything. These trucks go extremely well stock for most users. If you need to mod it because you need/want more power, I wouldn't get one.
