Rubber gasket with contact cement to Cal Custom covers, Hylomar HPF between gasket and head. Haylomar stays soft so gasket can be removed.
Dry valve covers at 248K miles.

I've had the best luck with cork gaskets. Installed dry, with only a little sealant where the intake meets the head (on a 390). Dont over tighten and let 'em do their thing.

I've been using (and re-using) the Ford rubber/steel core gaskets, and they have never leaked.

I found over the years that to keep cork gaskets leak free is to check the torque, use a extension on the socket and hand tighten once every few months. Yes cork compresses over time with heat to a point you can unscrew them cap screws with your fingers. Rubber gaskets, install, retorque in a month and forget. forget is something easy to do.
