Ah yes! My wife told me the brake light was on in her Sport Trac. I checked under the hood and found that it was low on fluid. I filled the resorvoir, pumped the brake and it still went all the way to the floor. There is a major leak on the driver's side in the rear. It is going to the garage on Monday. Is this a common thing on these? We bought it with 89k and now it has almost 93k. This is the second brake line on one of my Fords in about 3 months. I lost a brake line (same side in the rear) on my Excursion when that had 50k on it. Needless to say, I am less than pleased with Ford brakelines. Maybe I am over reacting.
I think you're maybe overreacting a tad bit.
You have to consider brake lines as a consumable item because they're out in the elements 24/7. Both metal and rubber ones will corrode in time, some faster than others due to the climate conditions where you're at and the use you put your truck to.
Hot and dry extremes can be just as damaging as cold & wet for the rubber hoses!
Yep,
You need to be out of this thread.
Go to the top of this page and as you see the "tree" that shows the thread hierarchy (this one is "Ford Truck Enthusiasts Forums > Small Chassis Trucks > Explorer, Sport Trac, Mountaineer & Aviator > Brake Line") click the part of that link that says "Explorer, Sport Trac, Mountaineer & Aviator" and that will take you to the front page of this forum. There, right under where the furum hierarchy tree appears again is a link to post a new topic.
It's located right where the "post reply" is at the TOP of this thread, it'll come up in exactly the same spot on the page.
I probably was overreacting but it is just frustrating that my 2 Fords needed a brake line when one had less than 100k (it's 93k so I can't really complain) and the other was at 50k. 50,000 miles. I mean, come on, that is a little early. My Chevy Cavalier commuter car that I hate, by the way, has 208,000 and I have never touched the brake lines on that. I am just frustrated but I guess there are worse problems that I could be having with the Fords. It certainly won't stop me from buying another one.
