Has any one tried these doug thorley headers for there 460 engine. Or should I get the banks headers. I am having the famous 460 manifold leak and i want to fix it for good.
I recently installed the Doug Thorley Tri-Y headers into my 460 auto truck. While the product was very nice the O2 sensor bung was positioned incorrectly on the l/h manifold and I struggled to get proper fit with the Y pipe. I had to modify the Y pipe myself (now DT has corrected the problems with their fabrication jig) and after MUCH communication and wrong part shippments I finally got the complete system installed. The product does work, delivers a nice performance and mileage improvement but what a PITA dealing with all their F*$# ups along the way.

How thick was the flange that mated to the head. My main goal is not to have to do this again. I herd to many people keep blowing the ford manifold. thanks for the feed back. ill be calling DT tomorrow.
the flange is 3/8 thick. it is very important to retorque the header bolts several times until the gaskets settle in and the bolts retain their torque. You should have no problems if you follow those simple guide lines.
