Moving

2000 Ex limited V10. I want to know what should I do for the preparation for the 12hr drive. I drove to GA 2 months ago and to Tenn from there and gonna drive from South FL to Tenn now, pulling a trailer.

I'd change the oil before and after the trip, some say change the tranny fluid after long towing trips....Just make sure you have proper air in the tires and gas in the tank...The V10 pulls great. I pulled a loaded down Uhaul trailer from Alaska to WA thru canada didn't even notice the trailer. Now I did the same trip with my Expedition and the 5.4 and it was much more noticable.

BTW, moving to TN?? Which part?? I'm flying down next week to Johnson city and Knoxville area to look at houses to buy. I'm planning on moving from WA state to TN, but not exactly sure where to move to yet. I have family in WNC and E. TN but haven't lived in that region for 20 years.

Good luck with the move

Tony

How many miles do you have on your Ex? I'd do all the basic stuff: oil, rotate balance air tires, check your belt. not sure for the V10 but tranny service every 30k on the psd w/torque shift. you should be fine.

We moved from Miami to north Atlanta in Feb of this year. My wife was pregnant so she stayed in Miami while I moved everything with our trailer. I put 7k miles on the truck in two weeks, the truck did great its a great road trip vehicle. The only problem was a flat on the trailer the last leg of all the trips, with that said I'd be more concerned about the health of the trailer you're pulling than the Ex.

You'll need a big thermos and lots of coffee!

LOL!

I'm going to Chatanooga 37421.

Flushed the Radiator and changed spark plugs. Gonna flush the tranny and change the oil.

To change the belt, do I release the tensioner and how?

Oh man...I know this but not really from memory.

Basically get a socket that fit the nut on the tensioner. Use a long breaker bar and turn the to the left. This should "lift" the tensioner off the belt so that it can be removed.

Hope I'm right. But if I'm not, someone will surely correct me.

So its just to lift it off not to loosen the tension?

Anyone know where I can rent a trailer in Broward County to attach to my EX?
