Trans Temp

I'm sure if I did enough searching I could find the answer but I want to just ask everyone and probably get an answer faster.
I have trans temp guage and I was wondering what is to hot. I am new to the superduties and diesels. Heck, if I didn't have a guage I probably wouldn't even be worried about it. Thanks, FL.

It only has numbers on it. Unless you are talking about the coolant guage?

220°F is the maximum steady state, 250°F is the maximum for short times, like climbing a steep grade. These are in the pan or test port temps, if your gauge is reading the line to the cooler the temps will be higher.

While pulling my 30' fifth wheel, my tranny temps stayed right around 185....very rarely got over that...I think on one real long grade (like 3 miles) it went up to 200 for a very short eriod of time....less than 5 min. This tranny is darned near bulletproof....oh yeah, I stayed in Tow/Haul mode all while towing.
