I have a question on what transmissions would bolt up to a T-98 bellhousing mated to a Ford 292cid Y-block? I would prefer a direct mating but I would consider using an adapter. I'm thinking of a transmission like a NP435. If this is possible could you please tell me what make and years would work.
Just finished a Mustang SVO T-5 install on a T-98 four speed bellhousing. Went well. Need a bushing ring around the bearing retainer to bellhousing hole. A bushing in the pilot bearing. A bushing in the throwout bearing tube. Cut 1/2 inch off the input shaft end and splines. Add a coupla pads and drill four holes in the bellhousing and you are good to go. Oh yeah, you will need to recurve the shifter to clear the bench seat if you are short.
go to the links on the right side of this page and go to Badgerland F100's page for a tech session on installing a T-5 behind a y-block. The same guy has a T-5 and bellhousing for a 223 for sale.
