Explorer 98 Air Conditioner Problem
I'm a new member from Brazil and I really need some help. My Explorer's air conditioner works fine in the city, being used everyday, for about one hour, twice a day. It blows a nice cold air that is more than enough, even for the hot weather here in Rio de Janeiro city. But everytime I'm on the road for more than 1 hour, suddenly the air almost stops blowing. The fan seems to work fine, given the noise it makes, but the air seems to be traped inside the dashboard. It seems like the air that is coming out of the dashboard is only 1/10 of what is suposed to. Besides that, sometimes another problem comes up. Even if the air is blowing fine, sometimes it suddenly gets warm, as if the compressor stopped working. And then it suddenly starts cooling again. So far, the only repair I tried was the replacement of the switch (the one that turns the AC On and makes the air outlets selections). Can you please help me out?
Thanks in advance!
There is also a thread with instructions on how to replace the entire heater plenum which is what I had to do. I used the instructions which come with pictures and it was a trendous help and saved me a ton of time. It was a good 5-6 hour job but could have been shorter if I had been a little more agressive and if I'd had some help (I did it by myslef). It does require pulling the entire dash if you have to replace the heater plenum.

There is also a sticky at the very top of this forum. It's about 27 pages long. You should probably read all the way through it though as there are some additional pieces of infomraiton you may pick up by reading it all.
Also, I am attaching a set of instructions for the more involved fix. Again, a great set of instruictions posted by an FTE memeber. This is what I used and it helped tremendously.

Again, therre are photos of the entire plenum in my gallery under 97 Ranger Blend Door.
