My local servicing dealer has requested that I re-install my factory down pipe. They claim it is causing an EGR code to keep coming up? I asked for an explanation and was told that the down pipe throws off the computer because of the increased exhaust flow; and yes my CAT is still in place. Is this accurate?
Hey Tim I think I read in another of your posts that you have the Banks exhaust. If this is true then that is not what is causing your problem. I have the Banks exhaust on my truck and use the power PDA to check codes. I have the EGR disconnected and get the codes but once I plug it back in there are no codes at all. Been running it for about 10,000 miles this way.
I have yet to run into it... but they're probably telling you that due to this SSM...

Some 2005-2007 6.0l Diesel Vehicles May Set Dtc P0401(egr Flow Insufficient Detected) Or P0402(egr Flow Excessive Detected). Before Proceeding With Normal Diagnostics, Inspect The Vehicle For Non-approved Aftermarket Air Induction Systems, Larger Exhaust Systems Eliminating The Catalytic Converter, And/or Performance Enhancing Chips/programmers Which Often Change The Dynamics In The Air Management System. The Use Of Non Approved Aftermarket Air Induction Systems Can Also Contaminate The Hot Wire On The Maf, And Cause Inaccurate Egr Diagnostics And Function. Replacement Of Factory Components Will Not Resolve These Concerns, And Should Not Be Attempted Or Covered Under Warranty. Please Refer To The Warranty And Policy Manual, Section 3, For Warranty Implications Of Repairs Related To Vehicle Modifications.

I picked the truck up an hour ago; it seems the other dealer cut an o-ring on the EGR during instalation? No more CEL, I decided not to mention the turbo down pipe again. Thanks every one!
I also got mine out in one piece and while sitting on jack stands. Yes, I did say things that I shouldn't have, but it came out fine.
I assume you removed the transmission cross member to get it out right?
I cutted mine in half since I did not wanted to spend time to unbolt the crossmember! but I managed to get the rear section (over the axle) in one piece by removing to spare tire.

Yes I did. I still have all the stock parts so I can put it all back together if there's anything major. Yeah, it'll take a few days to do it though. lol
Ahh the price we pay to get the most of our trucks. The expirence is half the excitement! I should have taken the time to remove my old exhaust without cutting but I get a little eager for the finnished product and the fun of completing it. The spare tire removal was a smart idea!
