I was away on business today and wasn't able to bid for a truck on eBay. I asked my sister to do it and she did it with success.
I'm now a proud owner of this '52 F6.
This truck was used on a farm in the Central CA valley to haul hay. The engine is a later Ford V8. Original engine was a 215 OHV 6 cylinder. I have a decent one that I might use to replace this V8, but maybe not. The engine was rebuilt some time ago. The truck is running, but does need some brake work.
I think that it would look cool pulling my 18 foot trailer with my '52 Panel on it, if I ever get it running.
Due to some schedule conflicts, I probably won't be able to pick it up until the weekend after Labor Day.
Hopefully this truck has the dual Deluxe horns. It would solve my mystery.
Congrats on the new acquisition and welcome to the world of big trucks. Now the fun of looking for wheels starts.
I personally take this as a chellenge
to see who dies with the most toys. I won't be able to get rid of my original panel if I want to stay ahead.
At current count:
Trucks I have in my stable:
'48 panel
'49 panel
'49 F-2 pickup
'48/51 F-4 flatbed
'49 8N tractor
Like most guys who have a small fleet of vehicles, most are not road worthy. I have been driving my F-2 for about seven years but the first panel and the F-4 have been sitting in my shop, in mid restoration for the last two-three years. The "new" panel should be on the road pretty soon. I have to do a few more things to it like install the wiring harness and getting new tires. I am hoping to have it ready, not pretty, but ready for the Dash to the Dells show in September.

Same here. My 52 hasn't been running for a little over a year now. I have had a nice 215 to put back in it, but haven't had the time yet. I just found a better 215 not too far away that was running and pulled from the truck about two months ago. I plan on getting it and dropping into the 52. I hope to get the 52 on the road by the end of the year.
My new 52 F6 will probably need some work to get it roadworthy and safe. Also will try to the end of the year.
Now I have a 49 F2, 52 F1, 52 Panel, 51 Panel, 52 F6 and a lot of 48-52 body parts.
I have had two other 49 Panels come through me for parts and then sold/scrapped as needed.
Nice truck. You could go to the Pleasanton Swap this weekend and look for wheels. Jag
Ahh Pleasanton. I used to go there in the late 70's when I lived out that way. As a matter of fact I remember buying a 3 speed HD trans there that solved Willard's (my 49) transmission problems. Just about tripped over it and then saw a tag on it. The stock flathead tranmission did not like the Buick nailhead power if you got on it.
