Which scanner do you recommend to buy for personal use (DIY). To see the codes, etc.
My truck is a F-250 96 PSD 7.3. 2WD automatic. supercab. short bed
I have the auto engenuity and I like it have had it a little over a year now. I only bought the ford bundle for it, you have to buy bundles for what ever makes you have but there are package deals if you want to buy more than one. I think it cost around $375 but I think it is well worth it if you plan to do the work yourself. I don't know about the others I know 97350 has the ease and likes it also.
mine is ford specific but i think it also does other obd2 stuff. never tried. i think it says on there site.
i think if i was you i would go with auto engenuity if you plan to really get into monitoring. not that ease is bad but it doesnt do one of the things ae does. or i dont know how to do it yet.
they are fun. to be honest though. i havent touched mine in a couple of months. dont know when i will. trouble shooting once you know these things is pretty easy without it if something were to go wrong.
Thanks smuzz and 1997F-350. I have read the page of the AE, and I like it, but I wonder which specific model is, or is only one model? and they say:
Optional expansions allowing you to communicate with non-OBD-II vehicles like the Powerstroke, Duramax, and Cummins diesels.
I want specificaly for my Ford but do I have to buy that Optional expansions? or my truck is OBD-II, and I don´t needed it, or what bundle I need?. HOW I ORDER IT? I don´t know. So please if you can tell me what to do I´ll apreciate it.
(sorry but I don´t speak and read very well the English, remember I´m from Mexico)
You need to buy the ford specific bundle it will cover all fords that are OBD-II compliant. I may be wrong here but in the powerstroke I think that 96 and 97 in OBS are the only obd-II. So if you have one of those you are ready to go or a later model also. I got the PC based software and use it on a cheap labtop I picked up on ebay.
If you go to the order online page on his the ford bundle for 379.00 is the one I have.
