Sooty tailpipe

My tailpipe is a bit more sooty than I think it should be. This signals to me that it is "rich". How could having a larger exhaust & free-flowing intake create a rich condition?

Could it be scavenging too much? Why that would throw a wrench in many people's thinking that the factory Y (which I don't have) and the factory exhaust help in scavenging...

With only 25K on the clock I suspect nothing is amiss elsewhere.

Could it be all those WOT (Wide Open Throttle) runs I do daily? If so, then so be it...I just love the sound of my V10 over 4K RPM.

Sounds like a personal problem.

Mine is too...

I think it's just all the dents in the floor I've been making. That dang pedal is in the way...

I'm thankful it is not all red and swollen. Wait...I got to fill up today! I guess it WILL be all red and swollen afterwards!

So your exhaust is sooty? Can you wipe off the inside with your finger and think that maybe you own a diesel instead? My other gassers are clean by comparison.

No soot on my pipe! I use tp !!!!!!!!!!!

Monsta do you still have the cats on your exhaust?
you don't have the Y pipe in there ?

It would be interesting to know what your plugs look like (color) brown or white/tan

do you have a scanner to look at fuel trims while running ?
If you had done a expierment to see stock fuel trims ,then read them after mods you might be suprised at what they are now!

You know I like you Rich but not enough to go out an pull my plugs! LOL! Especially if you say I need to pull #10...

Geez...that's all that high-speed kinda stuff! No scanner for me...that one I have doesn't support 05 2v V10's or can I see fuel trims real-time. Plus, I cannot go back to get a baseline. Which of itself kinda pisses me off for not doing it prior. I didn't find the dyno on the island until about a month after the change.
