I would say they should out last the flat tappet lifets and cam. After all there is no friction with the roller cam and lifters.

I have no experience with crane for such a long time but I have never read anything that would make me not use them in a DD motor.

The only thing that will make them fail is the link that holds them together or the needle bearings losing lubrication. Other then that they will last almost forever. I talked to my machine shop about the durability of roller lifters. They are still using a set of lifters after 5 or 6 seasons of punishment at the track and driving it to and from there.

don't use a windage tray, the more oil spashed on the rollers the better.

a windage tray won't hurt the rollers, remember the windage tray is under the crank your still going to get some spray on the top side of the crank even with a windage tray. And the windage tray has the advantage of getting the oil back into the pan faster allowing it to be recirculated through the engine instead of turned into a froth.

if he wants to get 100,000 miles ,the more oil hitting the needles in the rollers the better.

My '92 Explorer has a 4.0L V6 that came factory with a windage tray and a hydraulic roller cam. It currently has 221,625 miles, and runs like a top.

So yeah, go ahead and use the windage tray and hydraulic roller cam.

Now, if I was building a motor with a flat tappet cam, then I might think twice about the windage tray.

Just watch your spring pressure's in a daily Driver..alot of guys will go crazy with the lift on the cam requiring higher pressure's..and then wonder why they have valvetrain failure's.... JMO.....

the springs i picked out are 99895-16
the recommended springs were a little higher spring rate and lower seat pressure... these are 403 lbs open and 144 seat, and are 1.54 inch od duals... theyre the best springs i could come up with from crane
the springs they recommended were 134 seat 424 open and 1.46 od... seemed too small to me for a rate of 448
