Im trying to get about 500hp out of my 460 and was wondering if theres anything i need i need to do to my tranny? I was planing on putting TCI reverse vavle body on it.
Overhaul the transmission at least. If you dont do it now you will do it in the near future. Increasing hoursepower will increase the heat and wear on parts that normaly wear anyway. do a soft overhaul now will save your hard parts in the future. I would replace the band, clutches and steels, bushings and thrustwashers. This will keep the transmission from "gernading" under power. A second good thing to do is stick to the stock valve body, just install a shift kit. You will still be able to shift it manualy when racing but when you are not you can still drive it normaly. There is one more mod you can do to it if you plan to do a lot of drag, I do have some info on it but have never do it myself, and it a E4OD mod. The jist of it is to give you a lower first and second gear but keep the third gear the same. Hope this answers you questions.

Yes there is a rebuild kit. you can buy then just about anywhere. You need to know what year it is out of. some of the older trannys have a little diferant parts then the new ones. If you have one that is between the years 1964 to 1976 then part #753010 at O'Riely's will give you everthing but the thrustwashers. If you have some more questions, see my string "One sick C-6" there are several people that are helping me with my overhaul, and ther may be some information there that can help more. This includes a exploded view of the tranny, and some verry helpfull tips. Hope this answered your question.
