Ok, a few more questions. Will I notice a difference in sound with 2 different 5 inch systems if they both have no mufflers? Or will the 350 system sound just like the 500+ system. Im looking at this one. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/99-03...QQcmdZViewItem Good deal?
Also, I have the early 99, will I have install problems? Thanks guys!

Here's my .02.
Loss of bottom end torque: not really an issue with a turbo and engine of this size. Backpressure is not your friend when you're trying to spool up.
4" or 5": my thoughts were, don't buy one thing and end up saying gee I wish I hadda. I hate doing that.
With either you will be able to run that thing up to redline faster than you ever did, and you've got to keep an eye on that especially if you have no gauges. All this before a chip. This is because that boost will come on that much quicker without the backpressure behind the turbo. That's the fun side of driving the truck.
Also, mine blew a lot less smoke when I got on it with the new exhaust. Well, at least before I chipped it but that's fuel again, not damage.
SS is the heat, but I got the aluminized. How long you plan on owning the truck? Think that over. Most shops today don't put SS on anything they replace unless you ask and pay for it. A good aluminized can last a long time.

Just my opinion but I just installed the MBRP 4" with muffler and I will tell you that on my vehicle (01 Excursion) there is a deffinate power loss on the low end. The truck was much quicker before the exhaust. Since I am going to modify the hp and tq with a DP setup I am not worried about it.
If you do not plan to add more Hp than leave it stock and get a muffler delete pipe.
If you plan on mild performance upgrades (up to 100hp) go with 4".
You would really have to be making some serious power to need a 5"
Ya the 5" looks cool and sounds good but I'd be willing to put up a Franklin that a 4" will beat a 5" in the 1/4 with all else being equal and the truck running a 120hp Jody tune.
Also as they say in the marine industry stainless means just that, stains less.

What exhaust is right for you all depends on what you do with your truck.Your main benefit to a larger exhaust is longevity of engine, fuel mileage and especially your turbo life. My '01 was way quicker with stock exhaust and a muffler delete pipe. I spooled quicker and had more boost. Problem was my egt's were hitting 1200 degrees way to quick. I went with a 4" turbo back and lost a lot of low end quickness, but I tow every day and my exhaust temps dropped 200-300 deg. Some days only 4000 lbs. but most of the time 8000+ lbs. I drive my truck hard and always in the mountains and the 4" turbo back was perfect for me.
As far as SS or aluminized, its really a personal preference. This is only my opinion, but I only will replace parts with those of equal or greater quality. They came with stainless steel and thats the way I went. Not for looks, but again for longevity.
Hope that helps,
Austin

Well I still stand by my opinion that the 5 is more than worth the extra money you will spend on it. I could have sworn that I read somewhere that the 4 cut backpressure by 95% and the 5 cut it by 98%, so if that correct then there won't really be any lag difference between the two.Now granted you can't take advantage of that extra 3% less backpressure unless your pushin some serious horsepower but don't get the opinion that your going to be slower than a guy with a 4 if you get a 5.
And I think that the turbo and injectors were different on the early 99's but the difference doesn't affect any exhaust selection (you can still get the same downpipe as everyone else).
