dont give up man. probably some burnt wiring or a non firing injector. not too bad. these trucks run forever. just be patient.
i cant help on the smell. me and autos dont get along.
Hang in there blue, I see you have almost 200k on you ride. Hopefully a little $ now will get you going for the long haul.
I tried my scanner (autoxray) on my diesel, when you hit scan it kills the engine Kinda scarry the first time, thought I fried something really important.
I'm looking at an Autoengiuity scanner as soon as the $$ will allow.
a snap on should work. it also should be able to do all the tests. tell me what model it is and i will see if it one of the ones that works or maybe someone here will know.
I do not have the transmission troubleshooter but it does list my vehicle. I am not qite sure where you are headed with this. I have no codes, or atleast there is not a light on my dash.
As far as the transmission goes I am not sure what to do. There is a guy here locally that is suppose to be good at rebuilding the transmission. He want 3k to build it for towing an another 15oo+ to put in a suncoast torque converter. He only offers a 12 month 12k warranty. He also can't get to it for 3 to 4 weeks
Ford can have me up and running with one of their remanufactured transmissions with a 3 year 36k warranty. They can get it done in a week.
I have not called AAMCO.
What is the advice of the experienced on this board?
Take a whiff of your trans fluid, if it doesn't have a burnt smell to it you should be okay. If you haven't already, drop the pan and change the fluid and filter. Plus you should be able to see if there is any metal particles floating about. Lots of post here about doing it yourself.
Check your rear brakes, I have noticed that my emergency brake sticks sometimes and feels like I am towing an aircraft carrier.
Everything passed except...Exhaust pressure sensor circuit fault (P0470) and an internal control module ROM error (P0605).
I could not get the glow plugs to test at all. I assume they work because I can see the voltage drop when I start the truck. I will have to research that further.
I guess the good news is that the Buzz test and cylinder contribution test went well.
for that sensor all you need to do is pull the pipe that runs from manifold to sensor very easy to do and clean it out. and maybe scrape the inside of the sensor a little.
ok now i want you to unplug your icp sensor and go drive your truck. yes the check engine light will be on but if it runs smoother thats probably your problem.
