Your description sounds like you have more than one belt, which implies a 3 liter engine? I thought that by 1997, they all went to a single serpentine belt. In any case, I think the diagrams that krankshaft provided should have them covered, with one potential problem:
The routings for the 4 liter engine didn't look quite right to me, so I just went out to my van to verify. On my engine, the pulley at position 3 is a tensioner, while the one at position 8 is an idler. Both these pulleys have smooth working surfaces, and the flat part on the back of the belt rides on them. The diagrams show the ribbed surface of the belt riding on the pulley at position 8. Otherwise, all the accessories are in the right places.
Did the 4 liter engine in the 97 Aerostars come with different front dress configurations than previous years?
I got to add my two cents also......I have the 2 belt set up with AC on my 91 3.0. However the above diagram for 2 belt with AC does not match my set up. My set up has an idler pulley between the AC and the crank pulley. It sits up higher than the AC and CS pulley and the back of the belt rides on it....
what life span/mileage is the Aero group getting out of serpentine belt...engine size, a/c and belt brand?
has anyone found a belt brand that lasts longer?
i get about 50k before glazing and cracking becomes severe especially on smooth backside from water pump drive....4L w A/C, Goodyear

My belt needs replaced,it's looking a little frayed and am curious about any responses to 96'-4wdrs questions and others. What belt brand? Longevity?? Mine has about 66K on it 4L & has AC.
Havent'been doin' much cork-screwed my back in a stupid fall the end of June and just getting around again.
Rule #2: Make a quick diagram on a scrap piece of Brown paper bag or cardboard box. (#2b) Loose it when a gust of wind blows it away when your not looking...........
