my 1966 f-100 steering wheel sits too far back
is there any way to move it foward with out changing the
collum .
also thinking about up grading to a 429 instead of the 390 what do you think.

Keep in mind that if you move the wheel away from you, it will cut into the leg room where you get into the seat! If the clearance room isn't a concern and if you have no power steering, get a shorter power steering column from about a 70-72 truck. It needs to be from a truck with the longer steering box that necessitated a short column. Remove the column to dash mounting bracket and re-attach where needed on the new column. Doing this same type swap with a 77-79 tilt column will let you have more chest to wheel room and maybe the tilt will still allow easier entry. Of course, the original look will not be there.. Do ALLOT of measuring inside the cab before doing anything major!
