Hello all! I have the opportunity to buy a pretty solid 1970 F250 camper special with a 390. Does anone know the towing capacity? I need it to tow my 7000lbs trailer.
I will obviously want to upgrade the brakes and from what I've read here I can use the I-beams and so on from a newer truck up to 1980. Correct? Does this include f250s and 350s?
Well im not 100% sure of how much it could pull but that is why there called Camper Specials to pull a lot so im sure it would pull your trailer but if im wrong someone will correct me..
Well what I have is a car hauler trailer that I use to tow some of my toys around with. It has electric brakes on both axles and the maximum it would weigh is 7000lbs. I would of course have a hitch and brake controller added to the truck. I just want to make sure that the truck itself will handle it ie: axles, springs, etc.
I have a photo of my 66 F100 tied to my 18ft car hauler and a 88 F150 4X4 on it. The ol half ton handles it quite well, so your F250 should be able to do the job too.
