C6 ?

I have a 87 6.9 with a C6. I shakes in between 2nd & 3rd. If I let off the pedal it shifts & quits. Could it be the speed sensor? Or is it pry the vacuum control. I will have to take it in if that's what it is. I don't have a way to pull vacuum on it to check it. I appericate any help.

No speed sensor on a C6 that I am aware of, they were vacuum controlled.

There is a valve on the throttle linkage at the IP that controls the vacuum sent to the tranny that could be out of adjustment.
Also your vacuum pump could be getting weak, does you heater switch from floor to defrost OK? That is one sign it is going out.

I am not much help on automatics, I only know what I have read in this forum.
There are others that have much more experience than I with automatics.

Have you tried adjusting the bands? If not adjusting the bands should solve your problem. Most likely it is the 2ND gear band that is making it do that.

how do you adjust the bands in an auto? do you have to tear into them or is it something outside the tranny?

The 2nd Band is on the outside and on the drivers side I'd have to look to see where the reverse band is cuz its been so long since i have worked on a c-6

No I have not tried that. I might have to give it a try. I usually take trannys in to get worked on. I don't know to much about them.

To adjust the band you
1 clean all the dirt from the band adjusting screw. Remove & discard locknut.

2 Install a new locknut & tighten the adjusting screw to 10 ft-lbs

3 Back off the adjusting screw exactly 1.5 turns

4 Hold the adjusting screw from turing & tighten the locknut to 35-40 ft-lbs
