Radio Replacement
Here's the deal, I'm currently in the process of installing a new AM/FM CD unit in my 75 SuperCab. My problem is that I'm not exactly sure about how to properly connect the power leads for my new unit.
The radio that I removed was not an original stock item and whoever did the wiring job on it really didn't have any clue at all about how it should have been properly connected it in the first place. So I really don't want to repeat the mistakes that they made again!
This is what I do know,
The original connector for the factory radio has a two conductor plug. One side has two wires which are both blue with a red stripe in color, the other side has one wire which I believe is black with a green stripe.
The unit I am attempting to install is a JVC CD Receiver. I believe that this unit does have an industry standard wiring color code which has a red wire assigned as the "Accessory" connection and a yellow wire assigned as the "Battery" connection.
I'm going to take a giant leap of faith here by assuming that the factory radio connector is also equipped with the same two "power source" connections that I need for the "Accessory" and the "Battery" wires on my new unit.
My problem is, that even if this is a correct assumption on my part. In order to make the proper connections. I still need to to find out what the factory designations are for the wire color assigments of the original radio connector.
Also, if by chance I am incorrect about the specific functions of the wires within the original connector? I'm still going to have to find another way to connect the power to this unit!
Once again, Many thanks to anyone who can help to provide me with any amount of the information needed in my quest to successfully put the ROCK back in my head!

Red (they say goes to acc) because most people run them off a keyed power.
I like mine connected directly to the battery side of the starter relay because I like to listen with the engine shut off and key off.
The two connection connector you speak of that went to the stock radio houses the KEYED power to the radio (acc) & the illumination circuit (Blk/blue ? ) for the stock radio which is controlled by the headlight switch.
I always wire my stereos to the battery with TV coax cable as it is a shielded wire which reduces possible alternator whine & ignition pop.
The choice is yours.
There is a 3 -way yellow connector behind the cluster to plug in that is either constant or keyed power as well.
I think it is constant power as it powers courtesy lighting.
Do you also have a Blue (antenna wire) ?
plus, female RCA jacks for audio in ?

From what I gathered within the information you provided, is that in order to achieve my objective. I should hook up my unit in the following manner.
Connect the red "ACC" wire from my unit, to the blue/red wire on the stock connector which is the "ACC" power source.
Then connect the yellow "Battery" wire on my unit to a constant battery source voltage? (Yellow Three Way)
If I am correct, I still have a question about using this method:
Q: Does the yellow three way connector you mentioned have two female connectors (blue wires w/black stripe) & one male connector (red wire w/black stripe)? If so, am I correct that the connection in your photo shows the yellow (battery) wire connected to the male connector (red w/black stripe)
To answer your question about the blue "antenna" wire:
There is a blue wire with a white stripe on my unit which is designated for use with a "Remote"
To answer your question about RCA connectors:
My unit has two male type RCA connections which are designated as left & right "Line Out"
Use that for the power to the radio
The Blue with red stripe wire is for the Light for the radio.
That 3 way plug is 3 female bullet connector and requires a male bullet connector.
*Note: I made a mistake earlier
In the photo:
That ONE wire with yellow grip plugged into the 3-way yellow connector is for the cruise control.
(a keyed circuit)
That's where you could wire the keyed power to.But the Black/Yellow as described earlier is for the keyed radio power.
The dark brown connector laying on the center left is for the courtesy lights.
For your stereo ..You should also have a black wire for direct ground.
