explorer trans problems
I recently helped my friend put a junkyard automatic transmission into his 91 4x4 4.0 explorer cause the one that was in it burnt up after hauling his ranger. Well the transmission will only shift into reverse no forward gears, the back tires are off the ground and nothing happens in the forward gears. theres no delay with reverse either. I think it's a simple problem cause everything has to lock up in the tranny in order for reverse to work except for the foward drum, right?

Stuart hasent led me astray, so I would belive what he said. He told me what was wrong with mine before I got the thing tore down to find out. Yup you were right Stuart, is there any way that the manuel shift linkage isnt hooked up right thought? I dont know dmc, but he is the guy to ask.
Thanks Stuart for all your help with my transmission. I am getting photos together and as soon as I figure out how, I would like you to look at some of the parts to see if anything else my be damaged, besides the clutches of course.
