i went to bolt my front clip up to my new cab and as i was tightening the bolts between the inner fenders to the cab, something inside the cab turned and now i cant get the bolt to tighten. im looking at the easiest way to fix this. there is a plug inside behind the dash under the windshield, should i pull this plug to get access from behind? what is the best way to access this area to straighten out this problem?
it is one of the three bolts that connect the inner fender to the cab. they are located right behind the hood hinge and run through the small piece at the end of the inner fender and into the cab right above the seam where the cowl seperates. there are 6 bolts that hold the front clip to the cab on a side, 3 of these are in the area i'm describing. i would post pics, but i don't have ready access to a digital camera. im looking for ideas on this, any help would be appreciated.
Usually when the bolt just turns freely, the welded square nut behind has broken loose.
Try using a pry bar behind the head of bolt while turning the bolt out. Will need to get behind firewall either to hold nut to install bolt (two person job).
I have never had these nuts break loose and can not give much details on the access holes.
