It's Evil!
Awhile back I wrote about the pain-in-the-butt spark plugs and other basic engine maintenance trouble me and my man were having on our '85 BII. Well, it's gotten a lot worse.
After we got it running decent and were driving it around for about two weeks, the whole ignition system crapped out on us one fine night. $600 later, we find out the mechanic who fixed it all was nice enough to screw up our carburetor. So an hour or two after we got it home from that whole episode, it sat again for another week while we waited for someone we *trusted* to come over and help rebuild the whole carb, replace the fuel filter, blah blah blah. We figured, "What the heck! Maybe it'll pass emissions!"
No such luck. Not only does it not pass emissions, now it's running weird. It was fine for a few days, but now it sounds like it's running high (like the gas is being pressed to the floor when you're not even touching it), and it stalls out at lights or when you downshift. I have a hard time thinking it's the carb, because it was fine for awhile, but whatever info I can get to help us fix it would be a great help. We've seriously been considering driving it off a freaking cliff the last few days. Or pumping it full of lead. *tears at hair*
