Should this be there?

On the evaporator housing of my 78 bronco there is a patch of fabric covering an opening. Should this be like this? Here's a pic....[/img]

I've seen that foil/fabric on alot of older AC equipped ford cars and trucks.

Why on that part of the housing and not the whole cover?

It was used as an insulator on the evaporator housing. New from the factory it covered the whole housing as a heat shield. Over time it comes unglued, tears, brakes, falls off, knocked or ripped off by a mechanic, etc. You can use Dynamat to replace it if you want to.
