The worst service ever on my 2008 F350 from -Removed- FORD
Well I was informed by my dealer that I needed to have a "Maint #4" performed on my truck. I purchased it last year in October. I now have 48000 Km's / 30000 miles. They told me that they needed to flush the transmission. A "Maint #4" includes a air filter change, transmission flush, battery service, oil door hinges, rotate tires, front end alignment, fuel filter change.
Here's what I needed;
-I changed my fuel filters myself after my last oil change 40000 km's after the service consultant advised me that I didn't need to worry about it.
-I had already changed my air filter, no change needed.
-I run mud tires for spring through fall, I rotate them myself.
-They were going to service my maintanace free batteries for me.
-Oil my door hinges.
-Would not do nothing to the tire alignment due to the fact that I run a leveling kit.
-CHARGED ME FOR 20 LITERS OF TRANSMISSION FLUID AND A GASKET, THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY DROPPED THE TORQUE CONVERTER AND DRAINED IT AND RE FILLED IT COMPLETELY WITH NEW FLUID. i CHECKED THE BOLTS AND THEY WERE STILL COVERED IN MUD FROM MY LAST TRIP IN THE BUSH. i MAY BE WRONG BUT THE LAST TIME I REMOVED A TORQUE CONVERTER, I HAD TO SEPERATE THE TRANSMISSION FROM THE ENGINE. MAYBE THE NEW FORDS ARE DIFFERENT.
BOTTOM LINE;
I was charged $696.10 for a transmission flush and a battery maintanance to maintanance free batteries.
Next issue with -Removed- ford.
When I purchased the truck, the sales manager promised me free oil changes for as long as I owned the truck, no small print, no questions asked. I had five oil changes completed at the dealership, everytime I had to argue with them about the free changes. I guess their $696.10 for a transmission flush was their way of getting the money out of me. I was then informed that because I had changed my air and fuel filters myself I no longer will receive free oil changes. What happened to the small print.
-Service quality.
First oil change - only took three hours.
Second oil change - mechanic forgot to tighten the oil filter lid down, he started the engine, guess where 14 liters of oil went? That oil change only took six hours.
Third oil change and Rad replacement, oh I forgot to mention that, I had my oil changed, drove down accross into the US to pick up our new travel trailer, got home late at night, next day check oil and coolant level, no coolant what so ever in the resivoir. Called -Removed- Ford, they informed me to bring it in and they replaced the rad.
Fourth oil change, asked them to top up the coolant because it was a little low. Oil change was completed in one hour, wow? My wife and I headed out on a family camping trip, got up one of the mountainsides in the Rockies and my truck was screaming like mad. When I found a place to pull over to check it out. I lifted the hood and wow! All of my coolant was sitting all over the engine and under the hood and who would have thought to put the lid back on the coolant resivoir after topping off the coolant.
Well I started with my last oil change.
Here's the verdict;
-Removed- Ford has quite the service record with me! There is more but I am getting too worked up to talk about them. To think that I traded in my Nissan Titan on this F350! My Dad just purchased a truck from them too, I hope he has better luck, he got the "free oil changes too".
So here is what -Removed- Ford is going to get for their $696.10 that they earned from me. No one in my family, in-laws or out-laws will ever buy from them! I have a Crew Cab with the black tinted rear windows. They make great back grounds for white letter signs.
I need help on a slogan though, I'm thinking something along these lines???
How about this?
Lies and more lies
"Free Oil changes"
Worst customer service in Edmonton Alberta!
A phone call on this comming Monday to Ford Canada if they will talk to me.
I will forward this link to as many people as I can think of.
I do like my F350 and other than a faulty Rad and chrome rusting after three months, it has been good, everything else has been dealer inflicted.
Wow all this for $73,000 what did I expect to get?

When salesmen, sales managers and/or finance peeps at dealerships make promises of free this or that, make sure you get a DUE BILL that states exactly what is free, before you take delivery.
The DUE BILL when presented to the parts and/or service department proves the dealer offered free services.
Without a DUE BILL, you may be SOL.

That's the problem people, we as a whole have some how accepted sub par service. The last time I checked, it seems that I pay top dollar for items a truck in this case. When you are sold a F350 with "FREE" oil changes as long as you own the truck, there is no mis understanding "Free as long as you own the truck"! Unless there is something 1/3 free??? Have another read, no part of what I have received should be labeled service! I still like the truck but that won't take much to taint with service like that. Did you read the part about I traded a Nissan Titan for this F350. The service at Westend Nissan was great! The service at Mill's on the other hand sucked!
Bottom line, look else where to purchase or have you Ford serviced!
Once again,
"Time which passes, never to return"

Did the Dana 44 rear end leak or blow up?
How were the brakes?
Have a lot of body rattles?
How was the paint job?
The above list is what most owners complain about.
You didn't answer my question whether you got a DUE BILL that states what the dealer owes you.
Did you get one, or not?

No such thing that I was informed about, I wish I had something! Sales Manager promised "Free" once again why would you deviate the topic towards the Nissan?
To Answer your question, no issues with the Titan, it was a 2005, just changed the oil every 6000 kms. I did smash it up and the repainted surface was not as durable.
All I am trying to do people is save you some grief, hopefully someone will learn from my mistakes. My last Ford was a 1991 F150. My brother and Dad drive Fords! It's not the trucks that are in question. Why would you defend this service???
Wow, you must work for them! Either way, the shiny nice looking F350 should get some good advertising with the fresh decals.

I don't work for anyone, anymore. I'm retired and have lived in LA LA Land my whole life.
In the US, when dealers promise things, a DUE BILL is given to the customer.
I have DUE BILLS for 2 free oil changes on both the Fusion and the Edge.
The reason I brought up the Titan was, I have owned THREE of them: 2004 SE KC; 2005 LE CC; 2006 SE CC.

Either way I am tainted now and good on -Removed- for doing it. I work in a field where all of us buddies and co-workers purchase new trucks every couple of years. I already convinced one buddy to purchase from someone else. I was raised with morales and principle means something to me! Not too many people understand that any more. You would understand that!

I think the dealers are desparate. I won't go near one for fear of just what happened to you. Mine charges over $100 just to pull a code when you can get that done for free elsewhere. I won't even buy parts there...much cheaper online.
By the way, if it says in the fine print that touching anything in the engine compartment voids your free oil changes, I'd just argue you had it done elsewhere. Sounds like they are trying to force you to let only them service your truck...that's pathetic if not illegal.

I absolutely hate bringing my truck to the dealer for oil changes as well. I get free oil changes until 75,000 miles - currently have 48,000. Once last winter I brought it in for oil change/rotate/16 pt insp. and the next day it wouldn't blow any heat. Resevoir was empty - 1 gallon low I topped it off and brought it back. They charged me $78 to replace a hose clamp and fill the system. They should've caught that the day before, you know, when they supposedly checked all the fluids? I had another issue with them with the blower motor switch not working properly, I ended up replacing that myself and the melted wire connector because they 'couldn't verify concern' after I told them exactly what the problem was. This dealer is Sonju Motors in Two Harbors MN. STAY AWAY!
